What it means: Inspected & Approved!

Mrs Cs Health Dept Cert

Today, I stumbled upon a fascinating insight while perusing a local food truck’s Facebook page. On it, they proudly stated that, “[business name] are licensed through the health department. They have a food protection managers license, food handlers license, allergy license, and are inspected through the fire martial.” (Quoted as written)

I love that they showcased their licenses and certifications, including their food protection manager’s license (or Food Manager/PIC Certification), food handlers license, allergy license, and thorough inspections conducted by the fire marshal. This got me pondering on the importance of sharing such essential information with you, which may often go unnoticed.

In the state of Michigan, all food trucks undergo meticulous and frequent inspections to ensure optimal sanitation and safety. These inspections are not limited to the Health Department alone but also involve evaluations by the fire marshal and, in some cases, even a mechanical engineer. It’s worth highlighting that not only food trucks, but every food establishment is mandated to have a Certified Food Manager present at all times, and every food handler must possess a food handlers license.

So, when you come across the revered ‘approved’ sticker on a food truck’s window or exterior, rest assured that it has successfully passed through rigorous inspections and gained the state’s validation. You can trust that the food served adheres to the highest standards of safety and hygiene. Ask questions and discover more about how food trucks prioritize your well-being!
